Bitumen and lime wash on old Smith wall
The use of non fine-art materials is central to my practice and all of them have a significance relating to farming or old rural ways. Many of them are unstable and fugitive, which adds an organic quality to my work. I continue to experiment and often my ‘test pieces’ become works in their own right.
